Planning and Discovery & Current State Assessment
Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is looking for a team of students to conduct a thorough cleaning and standardization of the Centre's operations and services, as well as conduct a current state analysis. Students would have the opportunity to - Map a current state analysis (CSA) of all systems, including events, programming, external outreach, volunteer involvement, and various other services offered by the VSE Career Centre, as well as that of internal operations - Compile information from current systems and statistics to provide content in summary reports - Gather existing data of our operations and services, clean it for better maintenance and to remove bugs, and analyze it to understand the current - Develop procedures and automate tasks and data collection to systematically organize the flow of information throughout the VSE Career Centre - Maintain and develop organization standards for databases, shared drive, and email inbox in order to improve team efficiency - Develop and analyze surveys of volunteers, students, employers, and Work Learn students to create written reports surrounding usage of and satisfaction with the VSE Career Centre - Collaborate with other Work Learn students and staff to determine the needs of the VSE Career Centre in tracking usage of the website, the canvas course and other tools - Communicate regularly with the Director and VSE Career Centre staff via email, in-person and by phone, in a professional manner - Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss updates and ongoing activities with the VSE Career Centre Director - Communicate key learnings, takeaways, and insights through debriefs, summary reports, and weekly meetings as well as through updates to the Data Tracking and Reporting Analyst transition manual - Other duties as required We’re Looking for Someone Like You If: - You have a passion for research and operations analysis - You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment - You have an affinity for project-based work and are able to work independently and in a team - You have excellent organizational, time management and communications (oral and written) skills - You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment Must Haves Skills/knowledge - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including data visualization and consolidation skills - Previous experience with data collection and analysis - Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as an eagerness to learn - Ability to deal with a diversity of internal stakeholders in a calm, courteous, and effective manner, utilizing strong business acumen - Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas - Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person) - Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity - Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment - Previous experience with Qualtrics, WordPress, and/or Canvas Course (asset) - Previous experience conducting research and developing comprehensive research reports (asset) - Previous experience working with a Career Centre / Coaching field (asset) - Must be able to work up to 10 hours a week Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
Analytics, Prioritization Roadmap and Pilot
Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is looking for a team of students to map KPIs for the Centre's operations and services, make recommendations about the future of our operations and services, and assess the effectiveness of our data collections techniques and technology. Students would have the opportunity to - Use the current state analysis to identify our key operations and services, and outline high and low level KPI measurements for the Centre to abide by with help from Work Learn students and staff - Make sure KPIs are defined using the SMART tactic (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound) - Develop recommendations for future state analysis (FSA) based on CSA findings - Support Career Centre operations and initiatives by maintaining and updating currently existing databases of employers, alumni, students, and staff - Evaluate current operations to ensure compliance to KPI measurements - Assess the effectiveness of current technology and provide feedback and findings about their usage, feasibility, and value - Make recommendations and outline new methods to ensure KPI compliance by formulating a long term growth plan - Communicate analytic solutions with leadership and apprise leadership of the status of operations throughout the process of running and executing projects - Using models like charts, graphs, and tables showing findings and summaries of all our databases to draw conclusions in the form of reports - Liaising with other volunteers and staff to help compare findings over the years and even across job industries - Keep track of current operations and incorporating new projects and tasks into current operations We’re Looking for Someone Like You If: - You have a passion for research and data analysis - You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment - You have an affinity for project-based work and are able to work independently and in a team - You have experience working with software and programming languages - You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment Qualifications - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel - Intermediate knowledge of at least one of Stata, Python, R, Tableau, Canvas API (or other data analysis software) to conduct analysis of data and produce clear results - Previous experience with data collection and analysis, and statistical modelling - Strong organizational and time-management skills - Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas - Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person) - Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity - Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment - Previous experience with Qualtrics, WordPress, and/or Canvas Course (asset) - Previous experience conducting research and developing comprehensive research reports (asset) - Previous experience working with a Career Centre / Coaching field (asset) - Must be able to work up to 10 hours a week Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
Implementation, Evaluation and Ongoing Monitoring
Positions available: 3 ( 1 team with 3 students) Project Description and Scope: Introduction The Career Centre is looking for a team of students to use our current state analysis and recommendations from KPI standards to help improve our future operations and services, and carry out data analytical processes to evaluate operations and services - Carry out backwards design processes through the creation of new projects and creating informational resources that are tailored to the needs of students, staff, and the overarching mission of the Centre - Design data models by gathering project requirements, translating requirements into technical specifications and logical data, developing corresponding database, troubleshooting errors, and deploying solutions - Establishing a data monitoring pipeline to help streamline and standardize data monitoring processes - Map out a timeline for reporting and analysis to be done annually at the Centre - Use data modelling processes to evaluate the operations and undertakings of the Centre, and evaluate - Set up a framework for data driven work moving forward and ensure that this implementation is systemically integrated into our operations and services We’re Looking for Someone Like You If: - You have a passion for research and data analysis - You have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment - You have an affinity for project-based work and are able to work independently and in a team - You have experience working with software and programming languages - You have basic office administrative skills and the ability to operate standard office equipment Qualifications - Experience in making analytical, data-driven decisions and communicating the results of analyses - Experience in statistics and statistical programming (e.g. hypothesis testing, regression models) - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including data visualization and consolidation skills - Intermediate knowledge of at least one of Stata, Python, R, Tableau, Canvas API (or other data analysis software) to conduct analysis of data and produce clear results - Previous experience with data collection and analysis - Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as an eagerness to learn - Resourceful and able to research best practices in a variety of areas - Strong interpersonal and communication skills in all forms (email, phone, in-person) - Able to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity - Equally at ease working independently and in a team environment - Previous experience with Qualtrics, WordPress, and/or Canvas Course (asset) - Previous experience conducting research and developing comprehensive research reports (asset) Student will receive: - Weekly oversight through prescheduled meetings - Constant feedback on operations - Recommendations and potential to return for other projects after completion
