Project Goal: To design and prototype a user-centered website for a fictional Tailing Management Solutions company CEPA. The website should effectively communicate the company's expertise, services, and commitment to responsible tailings management, targeting mining companies and related stakeholders.

Specific Objectives:

  • Information Architecture & Navigation: Develop a clear and intuitive site structure that allows users to easily find information about the company's services, technologies, case studies, and expertise. This includes creating a logical navigation menu and sitemap.
  • User-Centric Design: Conduct user research (e.g., surveys, interviews, or competitor analysis) to understand the needs and pain points of target users (mining companies, environmental consultants, regulatory bodies). Design the website with these insights in mind, focusing on usability and accessibility.
  • Visual Design & Branding: Create a visually appealing and professional website that reflects the company's brand identity (which might need to be developed as part of the project). This includes selecting appropriate color palettes, typography, imagery, and overall aesthetic.
  • Content Strategy: Develop a content strategy that clearly and concisely communicates the value proposition of the company's tailings management solutions. This includes crafting compelling headlines, body copy, and calls to action.
  • Interactive Elements: Incorporate interactive elements, such as animations, infographics, or interactive maps, to enhance user engagement and understanding of complex information.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: Design the website to be fully responsive across different devices (desktops, tablets, and smartphones) to ensure a consistent user experience.
  • Prototype Development: Create a functional prototype of the website using prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch) to demonstrate the user flow and interactions.
  • Usability Testing: Conduct usability testing with target users to gather feedback on the prototype and identify areas for improvement. Iterate on the design based on the testing results.

Deliverables:

  • User Research Documentation: Summary of user research findings and insights.
  • Information Architecture Diagram: Visual representation of the website's structure and navigation.
  • Wireframes: Low-fidelity sketches of key website pages.
  • Mockups: High-fidelity visual designs of the website.
  • Interactive Prototype: Functional prototype demonstrating the user flow and interactions.
  • Usability Testing Report: Summary of usability testing results and recommendations.
  • Design Specification Document: Detailed documentation of the design decisions and specifications.
  • Presentation: A final presentation showcasing the project and its outcomes.

Success Metrics:

  • Clarity of Information: The website effectively communicates the company's expertise and services.
  • Ease of Navigation: Users can easily find the information they are looking for.
  • User Engagement: The website is visually appealing and engaging, encouraging users to explore its content.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: The website provides a consistent user experience across different devices.
  • Positive User Feedback: Usability testing results indicate a positive user experience.

Deliverables
  1. Project Plan- Identify goals, milestones, and set a timeline for the project

  3. Create a basic Website (WordPress).
  4. Finalize- Handoff all deliverables and findings in a package that allows for your work to be easily understood and incorporated into future projects.
