Number of students required to work in team: 1 team of 2 students

We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization.

2021 will require us to host our events and programs on-line and hopefully an in person event in October - the annual Edmonton Short Film Festival. Upcoming events are: 48hr Mobile Device Workshop (May); 48hr Mobile Device Filmmaking Challenge (July); 48hr Film Expo - on-line and live event (pending current covid restrictions); Fall Filmmaker Skills Workshop (Sept); Red Carpet Gala and Long Shorts (Oct).

To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will:

  • Write blog articles, email newsletters/sequences and other content pieces on assigned topics
  • Assist with a social media promote our organization
  • Evaluate recent successful user-generated campaigns, preferably in our sector
  • Identify media outlets that are most beneficial to share our story

Ultimately, you will be working on content creation for our organization, including video, social media, and other collateral that we can use as go-to marketing tools.

If you like the sound of our culture, and are ready to tackle this challenge with us, then we'd love to hear from you.

A student or team with excellent writing and video skills would be the ideal candidate for this project.

The mission of the Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF) is to screen a variety of independent Alberta short films and to showcase local filmmakers whose work may fall outside of the “normal” festival market. Or annual festival takes place on the 3rd weekend of October. Our passion is to help emerging and mid-career artists grow in their careers by offering high quality workshops and feedback on the projects they have submitted to the festival. As a grassroots festival created by Edmonton filmmakers, we also invite the community into the world of filmmaking through free events: a Filmmaking “Production Basics” Class, a 48-Hour Mobile Device Filmmaking Challenge and Community Screening events.
