Details

We would like to invite a group of students to curate a series of podcast. We already have a podcast platform "Sounds Japanese Canadian To Me" started in 2013 which we would like to build on to provide more stories of Japanese Canadian history and culture. Our museum is rich in resources to choose a theme the student is most interested in pursuing.

Students could accomplish the following:

  • Script each podcast episode.
  • Depending on the student's skill set, record the episode by themselves, or coordinate the recording process.
  • Edit the recorded audio for final publication.
  • Write show notes and publicity.
  • Depending on the student's skill set, design graphics, or coordinate the graphic design process with a designer.

Mentorship

I will work with the student to set up goals, timelines, and learning objectives. I will introduce the student to the resources and discuss options. I have basic knowledge and experience with podcast production and will be able to walk the student through each stage of production if needed. I will review drafts and provide constructive feedback whenever needed and at the end of the project. Depending on the student's skill sets, some work such as recording/narrating the podcasts and graphic design may be outsourced.
