IoT Project Design and Implementation Collaboration

Cambrian College's Computer Programming - Internet of Things program offers first-year learners the opportunity to engage in practical, hands-on projects that enhance their technical and employability skills. Students will collaborate in teams to design and implement IoT systems, gaining valuable experience in project management, data analysis, and testing. Through this course, learners aim to build a comprehensive understanding of integrating hardware, software, and communications in real-world applications. As an employer, your role is crucial. We expect you to maintain regular communication with the learners, provide essential guidance and information, and participate virtually in the final presentation. Your constructive feedback will help shape the learning experience, ensuring that students receive professional insights as they navigate their projects on the Riipen platform.
Cybersecurity Capstone Project 14 weeks - Sept - Dec.

Perform automatic and manual network and host monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting to determine efficient and secure operations. Develop strategies for dealing with common network vulnerabilities and security issues to protect information in a business, industry or other organization. Design multi-site enterprise operating system infrastructures using a security architecture framework. Design secure wireless mobile device management policies and best practices to secure enterprise data. Implement a cloud computing focused environment to address security risks associated with incorporating virtualization into an organization’s security systems. Plan and configure network applications to conform to corporate security policies. Identify needs, and plan for IT network and security services to support an organization’s business goals and objectives. Perform security audits of systems to identify the extent of security breaches. Identify and report on the current threat landscape to protect the business against cybersecurity attacks. Implement security strategies to protect against current cybersecurity threats.

Project Design and Implementation

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Cambrian College to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this course students design, and develop an IoT-related project. These projects intend to reflect the technical knowledge and abilities students have acquired over the length of the program. In addition to the final system, students will hand deliverables throughout the semester documenting their design and implementation phases.

Students from Cambrian College are ready to explore their passions and leverage their unique gifts to enact positive changes in society. They will do so by engaging in service-learning opportunities through their projects. Learners will set strategic goals and establish personalized learning objectives related to developing civic engagement skills, interests, and community connections. With support, students will connect with community organizations and engage in volunteer placement and/or project experiences (in-person or virtual). Throughout the project, learners will reflect on and share their experiences with others in order to further explore the significance of service-learning and to collectively celebrate their good work.

Students from Cambrian College are ready to virtually support individuals, families, and communities through delivering social service programming to clients. As a “professional in training”, our students are ready to help out in various ways, developing their skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are necessary to enter the field. We are looking for placement organizations where students can apply in practice the concepts and theories learned in the classroom. The students have learned in the classroom about many aspects of helping professions, including interpersonal skills, resource navigation, and case management. Through their experiences students have goals which include the following: Develop and build progressive relationships between individuals and their care team in order to best meet the individual’s goals. Engage in the planning and development of wellness goals to minimize the challenges impacting the individual.

Workplace Safety and Prevention Capstone Project

Beginning in May, students from Cambrian College’s two-year Workplace Safety & Prevention diploma program will work roughly 250hrs to provide a variety of health and safety guidance and consulting to your organization. The program of study is uniquely designed to assist students in understanding current occupational health and safety legislation and then identify, assess, and manage risks in a variety of work environments. Students will be able to conduct risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and common tests to prevent hazards and harm to workers, property, the environment, and the public. Workplace wellness and human resources management is also a focus throughout the program of study. This course is open to the employer needs and would be flexible in nature.
