Welcome to "AI for Smarter Cyber-Security," a course offered by the School of Applied Skills and Technology at Loyalist College. This course provides students with hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to develop intelligent security systems capable of automatically detecting and preventing cyber attacks. Our learners are equipped with foundational knowledge in both AI and Cyber Security, and are ready to tackle real-world challenges.


Learners in the "AI for Smarter Cyber-Security" course will develop strong foundational knowledge in both AI and cybersecurity, with the ability to apply machine learning algorithms to solve real-world cybersecurity problems. They will gain proficiency in Python for developing AI-based security solutions, evaluate ethical and legal implications, and enhance their problem-solving, research, and communication skills through hands-on experience and practical projects.

Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project and could include but is not limited to:


Final Business Report: Receive a comprehensive report containing solutions proposed by our Learners. This document will encapsulate their research findings, conclusions, and innovative solutions tailored to your project.


Final Business Presentation: Engage with our learners through a final presentation where they will showcase the main findings of their research, conclusions, and proposed solutions. This session provides an opportunity for valuable feedback and collaborative discussion.

Project Examples

We seek Industry Partners who are interested in collaborating with our learners to provide meaningful, real-world projects. Partners are expected to provide a project scope that aligns with our course content, engage with learners throughout the project duration, and offer feedback during the final presentation. The collaboration should aim to offer learners insights into industry practices while solving practical cyber security challenges.


Project examples include but are not limited to:


  1. AI-Driven Cybersecurity Risk Assessments: The main goal of this project is to build an AI-Driven Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Application that supports multiple industry-standard Frameworks including privacy laws.
  2. Cyber Security Analysis Project: The main goal of this project is to plan, implement, manage, monitor and upgrade security measures for the protection of data, systems and networks
  3. Security and Privacy Enhancement: The main goal of this project is to strengthen security measures, enhance privacy features, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address learners’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
