Main Objective

This project aims to develop the front-end of Odyssey, a hybrid mobile application that integrates digital health and edtech solutions to support learners with severe autism. The goal is to create an intuitive and accessible platform that enables teachers and parents to implement evidence-based interventions through task analysis and video modeling.

Project Overview

Odyssey is designed to assist learners with severe autism by digitizing interventions and enhancing accessibility to structured learning experiences. The application will:

  • Enable teachers to create and customize interventions using task analysis and video modeling, incorporating multimedia elements (videos, images, and audio).
  • Allow teachers to design reusable intervention templates for parents to implement at home, ensuring learning continuity.
  • Implement a rewards system based on learners' interests to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Provide personalized dashboards for teachers, parents, and students to monitor progress, manage interventions, and track rewards.

Deliverables

Students will develop key front-end modules for an assistive educational application, focusing on:

  1. Adventures Module – A feature for creating and managing digital interventions, allowing teachers and parents to design personalized learning experiences.
  2. Rewards System – A positive reinforcement mechanism where students earn rewards based on engagement and progress.
  3. User Dashboards – Dedicated landing pages for Parents, Teachers, and Students, providing an intuitive interface to track progress, access interventions, and manage rewards.

Deliverables:

Students will complete the following technical and design tasks:

  • Fully functional front-end components for each module, built using JavaScript ES6+, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
  • Multimedia handling implementation using FFMPEG, enabling video and audio-based interventions.
  • User-friendly UI/UX design that aligns with accessibility and usability standards for children with autism and their caregivers.
  • Responsive design ensuring smooth functionality across different devices.
  • Comprehensive project documentation, including setup instructions, code structure explanations, and a user guide.
