Details

New and expecting parents undergo a profound life transition that brings both joy and challenges. It takes a village to raise a child is not just a saying, it is a tried and trusted method of bringing up fully-developed children. Practical assistance, such as help with household chores, meal preparation, and childcare, becomes invaluable as parents grapple with the demands of raising a child.

Abiyé - a Yoruba word which loosely translates to ‘thriving after birth’ - is a matching service to connect new and expecting mothers who need an extra pair of hands, with volunteers willing to support them.

The main objective of this project is to design the UX/UI architecture of Abiyé. This includes understanding the features needed for the user journeys of the Mums, Volunteers, and MedInclude admin.

Deliverables
  1. Project Plan- Identify goals, milestones, and set a timeline for the project
  2. Review requirements and existing designs- Familiarize themselves with the existing product to understand the requirements, design work, and feedback that already exists, and to identify gaps to be filled in the next stage.
  3. Design the platform architecture - Translate platform requirements and features into a visual flow representation.
  4. Design the the platform - Design low, medium, and high fidelity flow for the platform - as time permits.
  5. Finalize- Handoff all deliverables and findings in a package that allows for your work to be easily understood and incorporated into future projects.

Project Deliverables

  • Competitive research - analysis of direct or indirect competitors' design strengths and weaknesses, with actionable recommendations
  • User research- research plans, screener surveys, user interviews, and/or persona development to better understand users
  • Usability testing- summary of key findings and recommendations, or documentation of testing sessions to understand users’ experience of and interaction with your product
  • Design recommendations- design improved flows for the distinct user types. Workshop ideas and turn those into wireframes or mockups that show exactly how the solution could work
  • Prototype- once high fidelity mockups are complete, create a prototype in Figma that can be used to test and validate the designs
Mentorship

[Note the text included below describes Springboard's requirements for collaboration with a design team. Feel free to add additional ways that you plan to support the team as needed]

  • Preparation of any relevant resources and assets in advance of the kick off call
  • With a regular weekly check-in call
  • Reasonably responsive throughout the collaboration to unsure progress is not blocked.
  • Allow the learners to share the work they do for us in job search materials
