Details

eHacks Events is a non-profit dedicated to providing interdisciplinary learning experiences to post-secondary students across the country. To facilitate this mission, we run competitions and events with workshops, networking, and mentorship to help students collaborate in cross-functional teams and build new skillsets.

Our flagship event, eHacks at Western University, is coming up in February, and we are looking for ways to improve our event experience for our competitors, sponsors, mentors, judges, and organizers.

You'll be tasked with using design thinking methodologies to identify the pain points of our stakeholders from past events, and identify ways we can solve them. Using these insights, you'll create event resources (e.g. templates, rubrics, etc.), a comprehensive itinerary, and programming that will amplify our mission. You'll also create marketing materials to promote your incredible improvements to our competitors and get them excited for eHacks at Western University.

You can expect to learn the following:

  • The design thinking process and how to identify user needs
  • How to prioritize the needs of various stakeholders to spend resources in the most impactful way possible.
  • Attention to detail and project management
  • How to communicate effectively via promotional channels (e.g. social media, print, etc.)

Mentorship

We will offer weekly 1:1 meetings with at least two managers (i.e. at least two weekly mentorship meetings). We will also welcome questions via email at anytime to help you every step of the way.

Education

Our mission is to provide interdisciplinary learning experiences that empower students to solve pressing social issues through technical innovation. eHacks competitions are a uniquely magical place. Students from various backgrounds attend cross-functional workshops, connect with corporate representatives from various high-growth firms, and work together to create technically interesting and financially feasible innovations that aspire to change our world for the better.

Over the past two years, eHacks has raised over $25,000 to host 300+ students from every faculty on campus. Regardless of our participants' backgrounds, everyone walks away from eHacks with new ideas, experiences, and skills that prepare them for the ever-changing workforce.
