Why EPICS?

Community organizations need technical expertise. Engineering students need practical, hands-on experience before entering the workforce.

Through EPICS, multidisciplinary teams of recently graduated master engineering students use their technical skills and innovative ideas to design and implement solutions for organizations in our community and around the world.

How does it work?

EPICS teams tackle all stages of the innovation process, from feasibility and planning through design and implementation. The expectation that their designs will be deployed and used provides a compelling learning environment.

Organizations gain valuable help that might otherwise be impossible to afford, furthering your efforts without detracting from the mission.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Detailed schematics, iterative prototyping, design review presentations, and detailed design document.

Students in the Professional EPICS program average up to 20 hours per week on the project.

Due to students working 20 hours per week, we require at least ONE meeting per week with the team. The best outcomes are if you have a Monday planning meeting and a Friday work review meeting.

Project Examples

Professional EPICS has 300 recent Master Graduates across all degrees of engineering at ASU. The program has 15 projects ranging from Machine Learning, AI, designing & implementing solar and water purification systems for Native Americans, designing community centers, investigating mobile application development, and more.
