In this course, students examine the role of the manager in relation to the financial objectives of the company. They also analyze financial statements, forecasting financial transactions, preparing budgets, and other planning and control techniques.

This course preludes our CPT 1013: Corporate Finances II, which will start in January 2023. Ideally, we would like to work with a company that has a project (or multiple projects) that can be worked on in both terms.

Dans ce cours, les étudiants examine le rôle du directeur par rapport aux objectifs financiers de l'entreprise. Ils.elles analyse aussi les états financiers, la prévision des opérations financières, la préparation de budgets ainsi que d'autres techniques de planification et de contrôle.

Ce cours précède notre CPT 1013 : Corporate Finances II, qui débutera en janvier 2023. Idéalement, nous aimerions travailler avec une entreprise qui a un projet (ou plusieurs projets) sur lequel on peut travailler chaque semestres.

Deliverables will depend on the project requirements but may include a presentation as well as a report outlining all pertinent findings.

This course is taught using English textbooks, therefore the students are fully bilingual. Projects can be completed in either a bilingual, French or English environment. The start date of the projects is also flexible. If the employer has one (or multiple) projects that can be extended over both semesters, that would be ideal.

By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze and interpret company data and produce corporate finance reports by applying commonly used methods and respecting financial principles.

Project topics that may fit within the course learning outcomes include:

  • accounting
  • budgeting: Financial forecasting, working capital management
  • Ratio analysis: Break-even analysis and leverage
  • financial analysis: Analysis and interpretation of financial statements

Ce cours est enseigné à l'aide de manuels anglais, les étudiants sont donc parfaitement bilingues. Les projets peuvent être réalisés en milieu bilingue, francophone ou en anglophone. La date de début des projets est également flexible. L'idéal serait que l'employeur ait un (ou plusieurs) projet(s) qui puisse(nt) s'étendre sur les deux semestres.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

A representative of the company will be available to answer questions from students in a timely manner for the duration of the project.

A representative of the company will be available for a pre-selection discussion with the administrator of the course to review the project scope.
