No-fee help to analyze time-related data to make future predictions and inform strategic decision-making.

Working with small teams, student consultant(s) in a third year Statistics course will work with organizations to design and complete a specified project over 13 weeks.

The community partner organization will receive their final project deliverable by the end of the fall 2022 term. This will include a report with a graph, identifying trends and predictions.

Important to Note

Community partners will be required to provide recorded data ahead of time to Laura Sinclair, no later than Friday, August 5th, 2022.

- Data needs to include a minimum of 35 data points in sequential order

- Data should depend on time

Examples of Suitable Project Topics

· A retail business interested in forecasting inventory requirements to stock inventory to meet consumer demand

· A retail business looking to predict seasonal sales revenue

· A retail business interested in forecasting product sales in units sold each day for their store

· A restaurant interested in forecasting the number of visitors who sit down or take out food from their establishment

· A festival looking to forecast crowd numbers at certain times of the days

· An organization looking to predict the numbers of car accidents, injuries and fatalities in a specific city/province

· A transportation company interested in forecasting weather patterns to reduce the loss of vehicle hours due to weather-related congestion

· A healthcare organization interested in predicting disease progression to estimate mortality rate

· A business interested in predicting the trend of certain stocks to design a balanced portfolio

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Community partners will be required to provide recorded data no later than August 30, 3022. - Data needs to include a minimum of 100 data points in sequential order - Data should depend on time

Availability to meet with your student consultant at least three times throughout the term

Prompt response when feedback is required (48 hours)
