Details

This student project will work with team members to support the organization and digitization of important 2SLGBTQ+ community records and archival documents as part of the Edmonton Queer History Project. This may include work locating records in the City of Edmonton Archives, Province of Alberta Archives, and other sources.

Deliverables

The student will work with project team members to help locate, review, and classify important community documents for archival preservation. This work includes liaising with MacEwan and University of Alberta libraries to digitize materials, and organizing and including final digitized copies in the Edmonton Queer History Project’s digital archive.

Mentorship

The student will work with the EQHP team, which will provide mentoring in archival research, archival, and digitization standards. Open office space can be provided at the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity and there is flexibility to work independently and remotely. Some travel to libraries and archives may be required.

Education

The Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity supports research, teaching and service work related to sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression on campus and in the community. Supported by the Canada Research Chair in Sexual and Gender Minority Youth Issues, we develop inclusive and responsive policies, support evidence-informed practices and encourage the full and equitable participation of sexual and gender minorities on campus and in society.

We serve all members of the MacEwan community—students, faculty and staff. We can answer your questions about sexual and gender minority issues and support your ideas for initiatives that increase knowledge about and bring visibility to the LGBTQ2S+ community.
