Details

We are seeking an undergraduate student to provide support in the collection and summarization of data collected from various internet websites. As an undergraduate research assistant, you will be tasked with finding and reading chemistry program requirements from universities across Canada and summarizing findings in excel. You will be required to interpret written paragraphs from various academic calendars and pulling key information like topics covered, laboratory hours, lecture hours and seminar hours.

This project will be conducted under the guidance of Dr. Kaitlyn Towle, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at MacEwan University.

Deliverables

This project will focus on gathering information related to undergraduate chemistry degrees from programs across Canada.

Throughout this project your duties and roles may include, but is not limited to:

  • Internet search to find universities that offer chemistry programs
  • Analyzing academic calendars to find information about program requirements and hours
  • Summarizing data in excel sheets

This phase of the project is expected to take 80-hours to complete over 6-8-weeks. This project will start as soon as a suitable candidate is found. The majority of project work in this phase can be done remotely.

Mentorship

The student will work closely with Dr. Kaitlyn Towle, who is available for questions. The research assistant will provide weekly progress reports (either verbally or written). Any problems or issues that arise will be addressed through collaboration with the student and Dr. Towle.
