biofilm marketing antimicrobials antimicrobial resistance business development communication research web development antioxidantsAlmost 4.95 million deaths were associated with bacterial antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in 2019 and it’s a growing concern. As such, there is an urgent need to break down the AMR cycle between humans, the environment, and animals as well as a call for alternative antibacterial agents. MHCombiotic Inc. (MHC) has formulated novel components with high antibacterial and anti-biofilm potency while also containing antioxidant, and anti-inflammation properties to address this worldwide affliction. As a member of the Turner research group at the University of Calgary, Canada, MHC was able to successfully formulate several effective novel antimicrobial agents. These components showed decreased side effects while demonstrating increased effectiveness in comparison to current antibiotics being used. We require a student to aid us in business development and strategic progression as we go forward. This role includes marketing, vendor engagement, website development and administrative assistance.
Tasks include:
- Developing website
- Contacting and communicating with vendors, business partners and advisors regarding MHC's next steps
- Edit and write grants with provided materials regarding what our product is
- Assist in applications for regulatory, government and research approval
Our team will offer support in the form of monthly meetings and hands on support. Furthermore, our team consists of diverse backgrounds including business and science histories to provide multifaceted support in all areas. Through meetings with the team and professionals in the industry who are helping us, we will offer the student low-risk exposure to the world of biotechnology start-ups and the knowledge they require to fulfill their role.
About the company
MHC is providing novel antibacterial and antibiofilm materials with antioxidant properties for different industrial, agricultural, and clinical applications including pharmaceutical companies, dental/orthopaedic implants, cosmetics (e.g. anti-acne creams, preservatives), coating on surgical tools, artificial joints, medical devices, wound dressing, high touch surface coatings, and infection control at hospitals, especially after surgery. Moreover, we are providing the same materials for the veterinary, dairy, food and oil and gas industry as well. We have discovered several different antimicrobial formulations with different features and expenditures, each of them being useful for a specific type of clinical or industrial application.
