The main goal of this project is to develop and implement a grant writing strategy for Play Forever, a non-profit organization providing recreation, education, and health services to seniors and youths in Toronto, Ontario. The strategy aims to create a steady inflow of funding, ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization and supporting its mission to serve marginalized communities and low-income families.

Deliverables

To achieve the project goal, learners will need to complete the following tasks:

  1. Conduct a thorough analysis of Play Forever's funding needs, including program expenses, operational costs, and future growth initiatives.
  2. Research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations that align with Play Forever's mission and funding requirements.
  3. Develop a grant writing strategy, prioritizing high-potential grant opportunities and outlining a timeline for grant submissions.
  4. Prepare compelling grant proposals, incorporating strong storytelling elements and addressing specific funder requirements to maximize chances of success.
  5. Create a tracking and reporting system to monitor the status of submitted grant proposals and track the funding secured.
  6. Implement best practices for grant management, including timely reporting and stewardship activities to maintain positive relationships with funders.
  7. Evaluate the success of the grant writing strategy and adjust as necessary to optimize results.


Mentorship

To ensure the successful completion of this project, we will provide the following support to the learners:

  1. Dedicated staff support: Play Forever will assign a primary contact to provide necessary information, answer questions, and offer guidance throughout the project.
  2. Access to data and information: Learners will be provided with relevant financial data, program details, and internal documents to help them understand the organization's funding needs and priorities.
  3. Regular meetings and communication: Play Forever's primary contact will meet with the learners regularly to discuss project progress, address concerns, and provide feedback.
  4. Access to grant research tools: Play Forever will provide access to any necessary grant research tools and databases to support the learners in identifying grant opportunities.
  5. Feedback and guidance: Throughout the project, Play Forever's primary contact will review the learners' work, provide constructive feedback, and offer guidance to ensure alignment with the organization's goals and expectations.

By completing this project, learners will contribute to Play Forever's financial sustainability and help the organization continue providing valuable services to seniors and youths in Toronto, Ontario.
