Bring on students from Mohawk College to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students in this program are poised to gain first-hand, applied experience in the role and responsibilities of an Educational Assistant.
Students are required to complete 140 hours of placement between (January to April 2022).
Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the placement. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the placement.
Project Examples
Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.
The focus for placement is on supporting students with exceptional needs in school and on the role of the Educational Assistant as a part of a school team. While on placement, students will continue to develop the skill set required of a professional EA. If there are doubts or questions as to whether they have chosen the right field, the placement experience will provide clarification.
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
A representative of the company will be available to answer questions from students in a timely manner for the duration of the project.
A representative of the company will be available for a pre-selection discussion with the administrator of the internship program to review the project scope.
Provide ongoing support and mentorship to students throughout the internship. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact no less than once a week.
How is your project relevant to the placement?
