In this activity, a class of ~ 200 students will develop a creative and effective Public Service Announcement to raise awareness of a specific issue related to Criminal Justice

A Public Service announcement in the format of an infographic, a one-page advertisement, a radio spot, or a video clip.

Some examples of topics are below, but I am open to discussing other possible topics - please reach out with your ideas!

As a partnering organization, you'll be asked to contribute to the problem formulation and the scope of the students' project. What would be the most impactful format for the PSA for your organization? Who are your stakeholders? All students in the class will complete the project and peer review each other's work. Only the top submissions will be passed on to the client for their feedback.

Topics could include but are not limited to:

  • The US criminal justice system
  • History of/issues in policing
  • US court system
  • US Correctional history
  • Sources of law and the role of government
  • Crime rates, crime trends and perceptions of crime
  • Services for victims
  • Criminal justice for youth
  • mental health and criminal justice
  • indigenous justice
  • restorative justice
  • community-based policing
  • the future of criminal justice
