Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Concordia College to create compelling feature articles for your company, in a project-based journalism experience. Learners will work on building a portfolio of feature articles over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.


Learners in this experience will demonstrate reporting and interviewing skills for feature stories, as they broaden their journalism skills, including mastery of standard mechanics for contemporary professional writing. Additionally, they will develop a commitment to the ethical practice of journalism and to the continuing role of journalists amid continuing change in society, culture and media technology.

Learners will deliver:

Three (3) original features, each between 800 and 1,000 words. Examples of the types of features may include personality profiles, news feature, event previews, etc.

Student journalists enrolled in this class will be expected to

  • read and understand reliable document sources for background information
  • demonstrate standards of thoroughness, accuracy, and perspective in reporting
  • craft compelling, concise, and coherent writing;
  • display a command of writing mechanics, consistent style, and journalism conventions

While these skills are relevant to many different fields, they are not expected to have experience in communications strategies or marketing. Please confirm that your Project is relevant to the skills that the students possess and are building.
